It's been absolutely hectic at the moment - CRM newsletter is about to go live, we've started a new relationship with Shelter which is fantastic and we're reviewing all our site and email content too... not only this but I've got to sit down and think about my 2009 CRM/content plans. End of year madness - made all the better by the fact that I'm going on holiday next week!
'What am I going to be doing on holiday?' I hear you question. Well, dear reader, I'm sort of 'between houses' at the moment. Looking to rent in the very short term (which could prove costly) but then if I'm lucky, I could manage to get a place to buy! In either scenario, I'll mostly be spending my holiday surrounded by parcel tape and cardboard boxes/bin liners, deciding what out the multitude of cosmetics and clothes I can donate to charity or throw in the bin.
Entering the world of home ownership - the thought of owning an actual mortgage is terrifying! However my Mum's going to help me with the decoration - it's OK she's got good taste (or at least has the same tastes as me) and also has the most wonderful way of getting houses decorated and sorted - the perfect nester. Very well experienced in making a house a home, because she's done it so often, I have complete confidence that my Mum will be able to create ultimate IKEA fashion like some whirling dervish of style.
And yes, IKEA it is as every first-time buyer should know. If it weren't for IKEA, we'd all be crafting makeshift furnishings and tea-lights. I definitely won't be able to walk out of IKEA without one of those pointless bags of 100 tea-lights for £1. Potentially the ultimate impulse buy?

Welcome to the Rated People blog
Hello and welcome to the Rated People blog!
I'm Sophie and I'm going to be posting lots of info and news about Rated People along with trade tips and home improvement advice.
I've decided to set up a blog about home improvement so that we can learn from each other and find out about all the different things that are going on in the world of trades and home improvement. So if you've got anything you want to say about home improvement and tradespeople, add a comment.
The first thing that I thought was worth mentioning was that we're going to be relaunching our new website in the next couple of weeks. There's going to be lots of new features that will make finding rated tradespeople in your area a lot easier. At Rated People Ratings count (the clue's in the name) and to make sure you get the best idea of the tradespeople who use our service to find work, we've got a new Ratings System.
It works a bit like EBay. After your tradesperson has done your work you get to rate them based on how you think it all went. Tradespeople can give their customers Ratings too which will create a forum based on comments and Ratings that makes seeing who suits you best for your job really easy and pain free.
The main thing that customers use Rated People for is to get the right person for their job. We'll do all the legwork to find you rated tradespeople near you who want to quote on your job. It makes it a lot easier to find people who you can trust a little more because the info you need to make a choice is right there in front of you.
Instead of having to trawl through business directories, we'll find you up to three tradespeople who want to quote on your job. Then you can check out their Ratings and the comments left by others just like you to help you decide if you want to use them or not.
